Punniamurthy Selvaraj was charged for deliberately obstructing DSP Juna Yusof’s duties when the latter had requested the accused to show his identification card . According to the charge sheet, Punniamurthy was consuming alcohol and drunk when he was approached by Juna. He was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code for voluntarily obstruction of a public servant, which carries a punishment of two years’ imprisonment, or a fine of up to RM10,000, or both.
