SIBU: A female clerk had RM25,000 charged to two credit cards after she was cheated into believing that she had won a lucky draw.
Sibu district police chuef ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said Saturday that on March 18, the 54-year old victim was at her home in Jalan Kangkong when she received a text message informing her that she had won RM8,888 in a Boost app contest.A few minutes later, she again received a message in her WhatsApp from a man who said she was the lucky winner of RM8,888 in a lucky draw.
"The man asked her to provide her credit card information so that the prize money could be transferred to her," he added.Stanley said the victim was shocked when she found out that a total of RM25,000 had been charged to her two credit cards.The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
