Knowsley Council said the people jailed over the Suites Hotel riot do 'not represent Knowsley and its residents'

The violent disorder outside the Suites Hotel was "committed by a small minority" and "fuelled by online misinformation", according to a new council report.

There have now been nine convictions relating to the disturbance outside the Suites Hotel, including seven men who were jailed earlier this week for a combined total of 18 years and three months. During a full cabinet meeting, Knowsley Council reviewed a final report by the stronger communities scrutiny committee which delivered an assessment on community cohesion in the borough.

"Those involved in the disorder equated to a small minority of people, who did not represent Knowsley and its residents, and these individuals have now been prosecuted. In response to the Stronger Communities Scrutiny Committee report, Knowsley Council leader, Cllr Graham Morgan said: "I welcome the feedback and recommendations to ensure Knowsley continues to be a welcoming place which celebrates diversity.
