The data includes students who already speak English, as well as students who are learning English.
DOTHAN, Ala. - Recent data show an increase in students’ English Language proficiency over the past three years, Dothan City Schools said on Tuesday.“The steady increase in proficiency rates is largely due to the English Language Learners staff and the classroom teachers who diligently work with students across the district to improve their aptitude of core subjects,” Coe said.Coe said teachers and staff will lead students to success both in the classroom and in the workforce after graduation.
Since then, students earned a score increase of nearly 8%, jumping up to a score of 44.68% in English Language proficiency. “Through the tireless efforts of our English Language Learner teachers working in partnership with classroom teachers, scores are continuing to improve each year which gives us a reason to be proud,” said Odom.
