This photo provided by Sarah Hubbard shows pro-Palestinian protesters in Okemos, Mich., demonstrating outside the home of Sarah Hubbard, the chair of the University of Michigan's governing board, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. They set up tents and placed fake bloody corpses on her lawn. They want the university to get rid of any investments in companies connected to Israel.
“The tactics used today represent a significant and dangerous escalation in the protests that have been occurring on campus. Going to an individual’s private residence is intimidating behavior and, in this instance, illegal trespassing,” the universityThe demonstrators purportedly circled Hubbard’s driveway repeating divestment chants and banging drums before sunrise, leaving the regent a list of demands taped to her door.
The student organizations claimed Hubbard laughed at protesters two weeks ago while attending a party next to their encampment and said they would remain “relentless” for Palestine. The university told“No matter how many times you call on violent cops to brutalize students, cancel and move your meetings to hide from students, and refuse to admit this university’s and YOUR compliance in genocide, we will continue to protest,” SAFE said. “You cannot hide.
