Former Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke will lead the Michigan Panthers of the UFL in their matchup against the D.C. Defenders on Sunday.
Now, the former Spartan quarterback is still in the state of Michigan but is making a name for himself with a new team.
The former Michigan State standout has not started in a game since he played with the Alphas in The Spring League. Bryce Perkins is QB2.Lewerke was signed by the Panthers almost a year ago before being released in March. He was re-signed 10 days later. Lewerke joined the Panthers after a stint with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL. That followed a short NFL career that entailed stops with the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. Lewerke never played in an NFL game.Lewerke spent five years at Michigan State . He was a three-year full-time starter for the Spartans. He started all 13 games for the program in the 2017 season, his sophomore campaign.
