Stress in America Report Highlights Economy, Violence, and Health Issues

The American Psychological Association's Stress in America report reveals that the economy, violence, health issues, and global conflicts are major stressors for adults. Money and the economy are particularly concerning, with 63% of adults reporting stress about money and 64% about the economy.

The economy, violence, health issues and global conflicts all ranked high in the America n Psychological Association's Stress in America report. Researchers polled 3,185 adults of all different backgrounds; 805 Black people, 811 Latino people and 800 Asian people were included in the data.

They found that common stressors are “often things that recur over and over and over again ― things like money, the economy and health-related stressors,”Unlike worry about a work presentation or the coordination of a family wedding, these stressors aren’t things that you can just squash with a simple action. “It’s not an area that you have a lot of control over ... and then on top of that, you still have to figure out, how do I pay for my groceries? Will I make the rent this month?” Bufka said.
