The official Stranger Things writers’ Twitter account teases that the upcoming season 5, the show’s last, will have a connection to season 2.
Stranger Things season 5 could be closely connected to season 2, according to a tweet from the show's writers. First airing on Netflix in 2015, Stranger Things has gone on to become one of the streamer's most popular offerings. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the fantasy-horror series is now heading into season 5, which is confirmed to serve as the show's last.
While information on Stranger Things season 5 remains scarce, the stranger writers Twitter account now teases that the upcoming final episodes could have a connection to season 2. Check out the tweet below: SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT After the season 3 finale won a poll pitting the four season finales against each other, one fan commented "Season 2 robbed". This prompted a response from one of the writers, who says: "I do think season 2 is consistently underrated. Highly recommend a rewatch before season 5...".
How Stranger Things Season 5 Could Connect To Season 2 Stranger Things has been a massive hit for Netflix, but season 2 was a somewhat divisive batch of episodes. Not all elements of the show's sophomore outing were universally loved and some plot threads and characters were essentially abandoned in subsequent seasons. As the final season approaches, however, Stranger Things has an opportunity to bring back and further explore these elements.
Noah Schnapp's Will, for example, is seemingly poised to play a major role in Stranger Things season 5. The season 4 finale features the hair on the back of Will's next standing up, a response that was used throughout season 2 to signify the presence of the Mind Flayer. With the Mind Flayer having seemingly survived the events of the season 3 finale, Will and his dark connection to the beast and to the Upside Down more generally could end up being a crucial storyline.
