Snow and gusty winds are heading toward western Alaska. Watch for increasing clouds and a chance for snow moving into southcentral by late Friday and Saturday.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Skies cleared and temperatures cooled over the interior and southcentral, even southeast. But a warm-up is on the horizon. Anchorage saw a quiet Thursday. The southcentral region stayed dry as well.
Weather alerts are activated along the west coast for snow, blowing snow, gusty winds, and eventually that snow could mix with rain by Saturday. The storm arrives Friday and cycles through Saturday, steadily moving north. In the interior, the Alaska Range will see increasing winds with an advisory calling for south winds 30 to 50 mph, gusting to 60 mph. Southcentral will see dry conditions, as will the interior. But gusty winds are likely in the Alaska range and near Delta Junction. Highest gusts could reach 60 mph.
