The panhandle will see clearing skies after gusty winds subside Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, the interior prepares for a return to sub-zero temperatures. Western Alaska is under watches and advisories for snow starting Friday, as a storm moves from the Aleutians into southwest Alaska.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Snow fell in good amounts for Homer and Ninilchik, causing some delays in getting kids safely to school. It was dry in Anchorage. Southcentral will see a mix of weather on Thursday. Expect some light snow showers as well as sunshine going into Thursday. Temperatures are cooler for the region too. The state is getting a break from active weather Thursday. It may be a brief break though. Winds were gusty over the panhandle Wednesday.
The advisories and warnings will be cleared this evening and residents can expect clearing and sunshine into Thursday. Interior sections of the state should brace for the return of colder temperatures, sub-zero temps in fact. Watches and advisories are up for western AK for snow, starting Friday and going into the weekend. This is in response to a storm that will plow across the Aleutians Thursday and into southwest Alaska starting Friday
