Hundreds of people living in Maple Valley woke up in the dark on Sunday morning.

This photo shows energy crews working to restore power after downed trees and power lines in Maple Valley on Oct. 26, 2025. Puget Sound Energy reported a power outage impacting roughly 123 customers shortly after 4 a.

m., that officials said was caused by downed power lines and trees. One tree fall hit a man, who was later transported to the hospital with 'moderate injuries,' according to Puget Sound Fire authorities. “You could hear the trees whistling and blowing and limbs flying around," said Jimmie Wold, a 50-year resident of the neighborhood. Tree limbs, piles of leaves and puddles of rain cover Wold's street Sunday after a night of stormy conditions. After overnight rain and gusty winds, Wold and his neighbors woke up without power. “It went off a couple times during the night, but it came back on again, but after 3 a.m., it didn’t," Michael Lorette explained. Energy crews were working the area of damaged power lines on a wet, private road until about 1 p.m. Sunday. The reported outage was no longer on PSE's online map by 1:30 p.m., and residents, who were without power since roughly 4 a.m., were finally out of the dark. “Years ago, it used to happen quite a bit out here, because there were more trees and that, but it hasn’t happened for quite a while," Wold said. "This is the longest it’s been off for a long time.” The loud sounds of generators could be heard coming from several driveways as neighbors worked to turn their lights and heat back on Sunday morning. "It’s pretty cold," Wold continued, "I mean, we’ve got a wood stove downstairs that helps a little bit.”“We’re on a well, so we don’t have water. And so, sometimes we run water when we think we’re going to lose power," Lorette explained.Several trucks carrying energy crews peeled out of SE 248th St. around 1 p.m. after finishing restoration there to head in the direction of other outages across South King County.
