The Pittsburgh Steelers have brought back safety Terrell Edmunds to their practice squad after he was released earlier this season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed safety Terrell Edmunds to their practice squad , the team announced on Thursday. Edmunds had been hosted for workouts by multiple teams around the NFL before joining the Chargers. The Steelers originally released Edmunds over two months ago after he was a sub-package piece and part of their coverage units. However, he was cut once the team got healthy and never re-signed to the practice squad .
Instead, that veteran practice squad spot went to Eric Rowe, who was with the team a season ago. Cam Sutton, who returned after an eight-game suspension, took over Edmunds' role in the team's dime packages, thus rendering him without a clear role on the roster. Edmunds was with the Steelers from 2018 through 2022 despite the team turning down his fifth-year option. He re-signed for another year in 2022 and started opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick. Edmunds signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. He started the season for them, but after average play, the team looked to upgrade and traded for Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard. Edmunds went back to the Titans in the trade, where he finished out the season but was not re-signed. He also had a short stint earlier this season with the Jacksonville Jaguars
