Nome firefighters have flown to Stebbins to help fight the blaze, which reportedly started in a shop next to the local school Wednesday night.
A fire that started Wednesday evening in Stebbins has destroyed the local school, consuming several other buildings overnight.
Witnesses reported the smell of burning rubber in the air as rubber mulch from the school’s playground caught fire.
