Fire chief Jim West says the people in the village were trying to put the fire out by running hoses from the school and nearby water tanks, but he says, the water tanks ran out of water.West has crews from Nome going to the fire, but there will be a travel delay getting there. He says once his crews arrive they’ll use suction hoses to pull water out of the ocean or a nearby pond.
