Generation Park will be home to HTX Surf, a world-class surf destination projected to open in fall of 2024.

The six-acre lagoon is capable of producing up to 1,000 waves per hours and can reproduce waves comparable to the ocean. The new park will be located on the corner of West Lake Houston Parkway and Generation Park Parkway.Surf’s up and the trip to hang ten on the waves will soon be a much shorter commute for Lake Houston area water enthusiasts.

“We plan to break ground this winter and are working with a well-known Houston-based that also has offices around the country,” he said.“The surf lagoon will be complimented by food and beverage offerings including a waterfront hospitality concept overlooking the surf area,” he said. For Ryan McCord – president of McCord Development, and the owner and developer of Generation Park – surfing was something he began to learn while he was attending Vanderbilt University.

McCord also pointed to a significant quality wave pool in Lemoore, California, settled in the middle of farm fields. “Surfing is one of those sports a lot of people want to try but getting into the ocean and the equipment can be intimidating. This is a way that it’s still very authentic, without sharks or jellyfish, and they can dial it up for experts or dial it down for entry level surfers,” McCord said.
