KUCHING, June 13 — Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg today said the state government, through the state-owned Sarawak Petroleum Berhad , has undertaken the first carbon capture storage project in the Kasawari fields, off the coast of Sarawak.
“It will also demonstrate, without a shadow of a doubt, Sarawak’s capability in managing CCS through proper legislation, regulations and world-class standards on par with international level CCS operations,” he added. He added that the state possesses vast potential for carbon storage estimated at nine billion metric tonnes of carbon dioxide to store under the seabed of its continental shelf.
