The Stars sent goaltender Matt Murray to AHL affiliate Texas on Wednesday afternoon, leaving just Oettinger and backup Scott Wedgewood as the only goalies on the active roster. They also recalled Matěj Blümel from Texas, giving Dallas a 13th forward that it has missed in recent games.due to a lower-body injury, missing the last four games. In his place, Wedgewood has made four starts, going 3-1-0 with a .919 save percentage and 2.51 goals against average.
On Monday, Stars coach Pete DeBoer said Oettinger was progressing well in his rehab in Frisco. Now, Oettinger looks probable to practice with the team Thursday prior to hosting the Sharks on Friday. Blümel was a cap casualty when Oettinger got hurt, as the Stars had to send him to the AHL in order to create enough cap space to recall Murray from Texas. Blümel has five goals and six assists in nine AHL games.
