Riccardi knew he wanted to pursue a career in basketball after four years in the Plano Senior High School basketball program, graduating in 2004, and five at University of Texas at Tyler two hours east. The experience helping scouts organize travel and credentials and the equipment staff do laundry and fold towels allowed Riccardi to “get exposure to what I wanted to do in the future” and start on the front-office track he’d started to consider.
When Riccardi reached 10 years with the Nets, he reached out to Williams with a half-joking concern: “I must suck at this job because they just keep me around.
“If all those people weren’t involved here, and it was just coming back home, but I didn’t know the group well, I wouldn’t be here,” Riccardi said. “They were the driving force.”in American Airlines Center, Riccardi’s connections from past to present will trump all.
