Sunday wrapped up Stars and Stripes on Houston Street . It’s the first year for the weeklong celebration of Independence Day .
The weeklong celebration isn’t the first initiative to bring more people downtown. It follows Holidays on Houston Street which was a weekend-long holiday event that happened in December. “It definitely cuts off a lot of the walking distance and the radius of where people are going to go from their location, like if they’re staying at a hotel or just coming downtown from dinner. They won’t walk as much if there’s construction in the way or closing things off,” said Maldonado.
