Centro San Antonio says it hopes this event can be a tradition for many more years to come.
SAN ANTONIO — People flocked to downtown San Antonio this morning to watch the inaugural Stars and Stripes Street Parade.
"At the end of the day, what I truly believe is that people want an urban experience right? They want to be in the middle of downtown," said Trish DeBerry, chair for Centro San Antonio."When people were honking after Spurs championships, where were they? They were in downtown and they were honking around downtown. So July Fourth is just one more reason why people can come downtown and celebrate. And we're happy to be able to reactivate the celebration.
"It was early enough before nap time," said Sean Coolidge, who brought his daughter and son to the parade."You know, they're a little too young to be staying up for fireworks and whatnot, so trying to get out for the parade before naps.""I just like the parade because when they come because sometimes we can say hi," said six-year-old, Axel Hernandez.
