Star Wars has finally shown what the official end of the Empire looked like, and it further confirms that the New Republic government would never last. Following the destruction of the second Death Star and the demise of both Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, the Galactic Empire would continue fighting for a full year after Return of the Jedi's Battle of Endor.
