Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek: Strange New Worlds co-executive producer and director Chris Fisher praises Anson Mount's leadership in Marvel's Inhumans, qualities Mount brought to Strange New Worlds as Captain Christopher Pike. In Inhumans, Mount portrayed Black Bolt, the leader of a superpowered clan whose voice can shatter mountains.
Appearing on The 7th Rule podcast to discuss Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2's finale, co-executive producer Chris Fisher told hosts Cirroc Lofton and Ryan T. Husk about how impressed he was to work with Anson Mount in Inhumans prior to their collaboration on Strange New Worlds. Read his quote and watch the video below.
I think a lot of people know how much I love Anson. Anson and I were on a show together, a Marvel show called Inhumans. It was a show that didn’t do that well and wasn’t going that well, and I was able to watch Anson as a leader on a show that wasn’t going well, and how incredible he was. And I just said to myself, “Wow. Probably this show isn’t gonna go anywhere, but I would kill to work with this guy again.” I’ve never seen a leader like this. I’ve never seen an actor like this.
Anson Mount Returned As Inhumans' Black Bolt During Strange New Worlds Marvel's Inhumans was panned by critics and audiences, compounded by how the show's first two episodes were released in IMAX in 2017, which exposed how limited the scope of the series was compared to Marvel Studios' blockbuster films. However, Anson Mount did return to the role of Black Bolt in 2022.
Mount's comeback as Black Bolt happened as he won raves for leading Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as Captain Christopher Pike. Mount's strong but compassionate portrayal of Captain Pike is one of the highlights of Strange New Worlds, and it's gratifying to hear co-executive producer Chris Fisher confirm that Mount is every bit the leader on set in real life as Pike is on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise.
