I came away from season 2 with Jess, and Melissa, Celia, Ethan, Rebecca, Bruce… Paul… Everyone is just so incredible. And I think we watched episodes that didn’t have a lot of Pike in them really get carried by incredible actors. We really felt the true ensemble nature of this show in a really great way. I think that’s something that hopefully will continue.
Why Strange New Worlds Season 2 Focused On Enterprise's Crew Instead Of Captain Pike Many Star Trek series essentially revolve around the Captain as the main character. This is especially evident in shows like Star Trek: Discovery, which is driven by the actions of Captain Michael Burnham . Strange New Worlds season 1 was heavy on Captain Pike as the centerpiece and decision-maker, but this wasn't quite the case in season 2.
Of course, Captain Pike came roaring back and took charge in episodes like "Among the Lotus Eaters" and the Strange New Worlds season 2 finale, "Hegemony." Pike was also central to the comedy in Strange New Worlds' crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Chris sang his heart out along with the rest of the Enterprise crew in Strange New Worlds' first-ever musical episode, "Subspace Rhapsody.
