The award-winning Stanley Park Market in Liverpool is returning with an Easter celebration, featuring a range of stalls, family activities, and community initiatives.
Liverpool ’s acclaimed Stanley Park Market , recently recognized as one of the best in the UK, is officially reopening tomorrow, offering a vibrant community hub for residents and visitors alike. Initially slated for a return on Wednesday, March 25, the reopening was postponed due to safety concerns related to forecasted high winds.
However, the city’s largest weekday market is now set to recommence its operations on Wednesday, April 1, marking the beginning of a new season with a special Easter celebration. The market promises to be a weekly fixture through to December, providing a diverse and engaging experience for all attendees. This year the market promises an even bigger and better experience than before.\From April 1, up to 100 stalls will be set up in Anfield Park every Wednesday, operating from 9am to 3pm. The market will host a wide range of vendors, offering a diverse array of goods. Visitors can expect to find fresh local produce sourced from nearby farms, alongside clothing, homeware, toys, pet supplies, and much more. The market isn't just about shopping; it's a social occasion. Attendees can also indulge in a variety of hot food and drinks, and a spacious seating area provides ample space for relaxation and socializing. Furthermore, the market is committed to fostering community engagement. Throughout the year, Stanley Park Market will welcome community groups and local organizations. These groups will focus on promoting health and wellbeing, providing valuable resources and information to market visitors. The upcoming Easter Extravaganza on April 1 promises a day of family-friendly fun. The Easter celebration will include a traditional Easter egg hunt, alongside creative arts and crafts activities. Children can interact with various character appearances, and even have the chance to meet small farm animals. Health visitors and school nurses will be available on-site to offer advice on children’s health, ensuring families have access to valuable health resources. Additionally, Everton and Anfield children’s centres will host engaging arts and crafts sessions, while Liverpool libraries will provide a dedicated story corner for younger visitors. The market is very community focused and is a great resource for the community.\Stanley Park Market’s reputation is further solidified by its accolades. It was awarded the title of Best Community Market in Britain in 2025, and recently received high commendation at the 2026 British Market Awards. Councillor Harry Doyle, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, emphasized the market’s importance, stating its role as a beloved staple within the city's market offerings. He highlighted the community feel of the market, emphasizing its function as a meeting place for neighbours, families, and friends, where individuals can shop, eat, and support local businesses. Councillor Doyle also pointed out the presence of several other markets across the city, including weekly markets in Greatie and Garston, farmer’s markets, artisan markets, and specialized pop-up events. These markets provide a genuine local shopping experience, connecting neighbourhoods and supporting local businesses and community groups. It is also important to note that the market's operating schedule is planned with consideration for local events. The market will not be operational on days when evening football matches or concerts are scheduled at either Goodison Park or Anfield Stadium, due to space allocation for these events. The market initially opened for a trial in 2024 and after its success became a staple in the community. The market launched as a seven-week pilot in July 2024 and was extended through to October due to its popularity. A festive version then ran from November to December 2024. The market was officially reopened by actor Ricky Tomlinson on March 19, 2025. The market is located at Stanley Road Car Park, Priory Road, Anfield, L4 0TQ
