The new trailer for Squid Game season 2 proves that I was totally wrong about what I thought the next part of Netflix's hit show would be. Squid Game season 2 has been one of the most anticipated shows for years now, ever since Squid Game season 1 became one of the best shows on Netflix in 2021. Fans of the Korean-language drama have been waiting for years to see how Seong Gi-hun's story plays out, and how the sadistic games continue.
Squid Game Season 2's Trailer Is Totally Different Than I Expected I was honestly really surprised by the most recent trailer for Squid Game season 2. Instead of being the revenge story the ending of Squid Game season 1 set up, it looks like the coming season is going to be something else entirely. Seong Gi-hun doesn't seem to be in control, and it looks like he'll be an unwilling participant in a new iteration of the games, rather than an outsider trying to take them down.
Probably the most notable - and symbolic - change is that Squid Game season 2 reversed Gi-hun's red hair. Gi-hun is back to his normal, albeit much shorter, dark hair, which seems to be a hint that he's not as rebellious and enraged as he was in the year after winning the games. Squid Game season 1 put a lot of weight into Gi-hun's hairstyle and the reasons he chose it, so I feel like it's really significant that the show undid his decision.
Season 2's Surprises Could Help It Surpass The Netflix Show's First Outing If Squid Game season 2 is already surprising me this much with just a teaser trailer, I'm cautiously optimistic that it could be just as good as - if not better than - the first season. A big reason Squid Game season 1 became such an international hit was because it was so unpredictable.
