A Susquehanna Township-based organization is working to brighten the days of children receiving hospital treatment by delivering activity kits filled with crafts and encouragement.to create more kits and baggies assembled by volunteers for children receiving treatment.
CBS 21 highlighted the partnership as part of our monthly Days of Caring series. The foundation was started by Cheryl Hornung in memory of her daughter, Caitlin, who was happily distracted by coloring during chemotherapy. "I started this 22 years ago in memory of my daughter Caitlin, who I lost to a brain tumor," Hornung said. "She was seven-years-old, she loved doing arts and crafts.""We always need help with donations and volunteers to get the hospitals our supplies." Renewal by Andersen, our Days of Caring sponsor, recognized the special impact Caitlin's Smiles has on our community. "Through our Renewal Cares Initiative, for years, we have partnered with Caitlin's Smiles and Cheryl and the team over there," said Linda Johnston with Renewal by Andersen.
