A man watching an illegal street race late Friday in North Anchorage was badly hurt when one of two cars involved struck him,Officers responded at 10:18 p.m. to a report of an injured pedestrian in the 900 block of North Reeve Boulevard, near Ship Creek and the William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery.
“The preliminary investigation found that a group of people were gathered to race their vehicles,” police said. “Two vehicles, a gray Acura Integra and a black Ford Mustang, were racing when the Ford Mustang struck an adult male spectator.” The injured man was hospitalized with “life-threatening injuries,” police said, while the Mustang driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police.No further details were immediately available.
