Southeast Health will host its 2024 Stroke Symposium on Friday, Oct. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine .
The annual symposium typically welcome participants including physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, pharmacists, and first responders. This has been an annual event since the first symposium in 2018. Their vendors typically provide educational materials available for participants and their speakers frequently share their information with participants who would like to have reference materials.
Studies tell us that someone in the U.S. has a stroke every 40 seconds, and every four minutes someone dies of stroke. It’s the leading cause of preventable disability in the country. Stroke treatments and clinical practice guidelines are updated frequently, so educational opportunities are essential for providers to update their knowledge and skill sets.
