Authorities say the defendant took about $2,700 during a string of mainly South Bay armed robberies.
A South Bay man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on Monday, July 31 for his role in a string of armed robberies of Los Angeles businesses, including one during which he aimed a gun at a pregnant woman.
20-year-old Wilmington resident Stevo Mijanovic pleaded guilty in March to two robbery counts and one count of brandishing of a firearm. Investigators say that from August 2021 to January 2022, Mijanovic robbed six Wilmington businesses, one in San Pedro, one in Torrance and also attempted to rob another business in San Pedro. The businesses he robbed were restaurants, convenience stores and gas stations.
Mijanovic admitted that he nabbed between $80 and $1,000 per robbery. During his entire crime spree, he earned over $2,700. In December 2021, Mijanovic allegedly pointed a gun at a pregnant woman working at a Wilmington gas station in order to take $180 from the cash register, according to court documents.
