A student of Mount Gambier North Primary School has been suspended for allegedly concealing a knife in his school bag. The South Australian Department for Education said the student’s bag was confiscated when staff became aware of the knife on Monday “and as a result the student became upset and behaved inappropriately”. A mother of another student told News Corp the seven-year-old boy allegedly threatened to kill students and punched her daughter.
Police are working with the primary school to ensure the ongoing safety of those who attend and work at the school,” police said. The Education Department said the seven-year-old had complex needs and there were a number of behavioural incidents involving the boy this year. It said a safety plan has been put in place.
