Liam leads ScreenRant's red carpet and events coverage out of NYC and hosts the brand's signature interview series, Coffee Chats.

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen! Netflix's Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen not only ends on a shocking note, it also leaves viewers reeling, with the emotional fallout from its dark final lingering long after the credits roll.

Produced by the Duffer Brothers, the mystery series follows Rachel and Nicky , whose engagement is filled with enigmatic terror. Things begin to unravel in the week leading up to their wedding, as a deadly curse tied to Nicky's family is exposed. When the ceremony descends into chaos and violence, Rachel is forced to confront the inescapable pattern and, in the final episode, make a life-altering decision. Instead of trying to stop the curse, she chooses to become the next"witness," fully aware that it means condemning the entire family to continue their deadly cycle tied to future weddings. In doing so, she gives up her own life and identity, stepping into an immortal role that forces her to return and observe these tragedies for years to come. The supernatural horror's limited series finale raises major questions about Rachel's fate, the cost of her final decision, and what her transformation means for the future of the cursed bloodline. While the ending offers a sense of closure, with Rachel promising to look out for the next member of the bloodline, Jude, it also opens the door to a haunting next chapter, which has the potential to stretch far beyond the timeline of the show. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, creator Haley Z. Boston and stars Morrone and DiMarco break down Rachel’s controversial choice, her unexpected sense of peace, and what her new role could mean for her connection to Jude and the family she ultimately condemns. Haley Z. Boston: I think this was cathartic for her . And I was worried that people would hate her for condemning this whole family to death. Why does she have to sacrifice herself for these people? It's sort of like the ending of Midsommar, where she chooses to burn her boyfriend, and I think that's really cool. As for whether she plans to stay connected to Jude's family, Boston says, "she has to." By taking on the role of the witness, Rachel is essentially required to return, again and again, to bear witness to those weddings, no matter how much time passes. So even after walking away at the end, Rachel might be at peace, but she isn't truly free. Haley Z. Boston: She has to come and witness all the weddings in this bloodline. So there is a world where Rachel, 20 years from now, is at Jude's wedding, and Nicky's there, and she has to confront that. While Boston made clear that Rachel is the witness, whether she will be watching over Jude despite her connection to him and his family, remains uncertain, with Morrone telling ScreenRant she'd be "really curious" to see what Rachel ends up doing. Camila Morrone: I don't know about watching over Jude. I mean, I'd be really curious to see, of course, she's the witness, and she's the immortal woman now, and I'd be really curious to see what she does. I think it will be a lot of warning signs and perhaps the positive version of what the witness that she had wasn't. Adam DiMarco: I'm curious about witness powers and what that entails. Are you drawn physically? Do you know where to go when someone is about to get married? And though Rachel seems to have made peace with her decision, the weight of what's just happened has left Nicky a little more rattled, with his final moment with Rachel turning into one of the most disorienting twists of the finale. After believing she's dead, he's confronted with her reappearance, a moment DiMarco called "catatonic." Adam DiMarco: I think he's just catatonic and just in shock, probably in disbelief of what he's witnessed. His last scene with Rachel —Adam DiMarco: I don't think he's aware. I think he might think he's hallucinating or seeing a ghost or something. Leaving him stunned and seemingly unable to process whether what he's seeing is real or some kind of hallucination, Nicky is met with the realization that the nightmare he's just lived through isn't actually over. It also confirms for him, however, that Rachel is his soulmate — in this life and the next.Adam DiMarco: He's living through a nightmare and just pinching himself and not waking up. He didn't die, which proves that he still believes that Rachel's his soulmate, so he's a romantic till the very end. 9/10 Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed Horror Release Date March 26, 2026 Network Netflix Showrunner Haley Z.
