The San Antonio area district’s nonprofit foundation surprised educators across five campuses with more than $56,000 for innovative projects.
A marching drumline, chanting cheerleaders and roaring applause rocked several schools in the Somerset Independent School District, as the district’s Education Foundation surprised teachers with more than $56,000 in classroom grants. The hundreds of students gathered at Somerset Elementary were the loudest.
At Somerset Early Childhood Elementary, special education teachers Teresa Meadows and Miguel Mendez were granted $1,234 to create spaces equipped with sensory tools and visuals where students can practice self-regulation and learn coping skills without distractions.
