Southern California's prolonged heat wave is expected to continue Thursday and Friday but a storm will bring heavy rain over the weekend.Southern California enters the ninth day of a record-setting heat wave on Thursday - and may face an opposite extreme this weekend.
While Kay won't hit SoCal directly, it will drive heavy moisture into the region, likely bringing with it thunderstorms and possibly flash flooding in mountain areas. Surfers will also see big swells at local beaches. On Thursday, Los Angeles and Orange counties can expect to see hot, sunny conditions with a high of 98 degrees. Friday will also be in the mid-to-upper 90s, while Saturday temperatures will drop to the 80s with the likelihood of up to half an inch of rain.
Beaches will be warm, seeing a high of 85 degree, with 3-5 foot surf on Thursday. When the storm arrives off the coast, it will bring 4-8 foot breakers.
