New video shows tents at Harrisburg's homeless community collapsing due to heavy snowfall.
Video taken on Jan. 25, 2026 shows numerous tents at Amiracle Community, the lot intended to shelter Harrisburg's homeless population, collapsing from heavy snow. The lot, which is operated by local nonprofit AMiracle4Sure, experienced its first amount of significant accumulating snow since it was formed this past summer.
Since the video of the tents collapsing surfaced, CBS 21 reached out to representatives from the nonprofit. We haven't heard back yet."There is no plan on how we figure this out," she wrote in a statement. Our residents have been made aware of the emergency shelters that they can get transported to. For those who choose to stay in their units, some have safe heating elements to keep them warm. We are covering the tents with tarps, and we have handed out warming blankets as well. We also have two enclosed warming stations on site that folks can go to to prepare their meals and stay warm.Residents at the camp told CBS 21 they had concerns about leaving the community to go to a shelter prior to the snowstorm. Many chose to stay in order to knock the multiple inches of snow off of their tents and ensure their belongings were looked after. Others were not permitted to take their pets to shelters, so they opted to stay at the community in their tents. This is not the first time the community has been damaged by weather. Back in November, many tents were damaged by high winds, resulting in the need for donations.“We have no grant funding for this community. We depend on private donors. We received $1000 from KW Harrisburg realtors Everything else comes from individual donors,” Curry said in an earlier statement to CBS 21.More than 100 people have lived in Amiracle Community since it was created after the dissipation of Harrisburg's largest homeless encampment, dubbed Tent City was located off S.
