With snow continuing to pile up, many businesses are eager to reopen as soon as possible. To do that, they’re turning to private snow removal companies to clear parking lots and access points quickly and safely.“It’s just going to be a long dig out for us,” said DJ, owner of Glory to Glory Landscaping and More LLC. DJ has been in the snow removal business for nearly 30 years and says this storm is one of the worst he’s seen since 2004. While the hours are long and the conditions challenging, he says this is exactly why he does the job. These are the days you find out what you love,” DJ said. “This is what we do. When you get opportunities like this — you live for these because they’re far and few between.” To keep up with demand, DJ has partnered with another local company, Golden Opportunities LLC, to cover more ground and help more customers. For Daylin Golden, owner of Golden Opportunities, this storm marks his first major snowfall as a snow plow operator.Golden says the biggest challenge is that the snow just won’t stop falling. It just keeps coming down,” he said. “We just got to keep pushing it back — fighting it and re-circling," Golden said. Golden says working alongside a veteran like DJ has helped him learn how to manage both the workload and the business side of snow removal — including how to protect equipment under extreme conditions. “You’ve got to know how to cut it up to take pressure off the equipment,” DJ explained. “Otherwise, you can blow a transmission.
