The Snoqualmie Police Department has reinstated its School Resource Officer position with the Snoqualmie Valley School District after a temporary pause due to staffing constraints. School Resource Officer Gutwein has fully recovered from a work-related injury and returned to active duty.
The Snoqualmie Police Department announced Tuesday that its School Resource Officer position with the Snoqualmie Valley School District has been fully reinstated. The SPD wrote in a press release Tuesday that the position was temporarily paused in September due to staffing constraints within the department.
The school district continued to note that School Resource Officer Gutwein, who had been on light duty for three months after going on medical leave for a work-related injury, has been fully cleared for full, active duty. The SPD also said since late September, Gutwein had been serving as the liaison to the district during his recovery. “Ofc. Gutwein has officially returned to his full-time School Resource Officer position, where he will remain for the rest of the school year,” said Snoqualmie Police Department Chief Lynch. “We understand the vital role the school resource officer program plays to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and faculty and are pleased to have the position fully reinstated.” The SPD said it's keeping one position open as it continues recruiting efforts for a lateral police officer to permanently fill the school resource officer position for future school years. 'The department is grateful for the support of the Snoqualmie Valley School District in the shared, collaborative commitment to ensuring all schools are safe and supportive learning environments,' the SPD wrote to conclude its media release
