The biggest horror film of 2022, Smile, is set to begin streaming. Audiences do not have long to wait as the film will be available on Paramount+ and across digital platforms starting tomorrow, November 15, in the U.S. and Canada.
After an incredibly successful box office run, official details of Smile's streaming release have been revealed. Having expanded upon director Parker Finn's 2020 short film, Laura Hasn't Slept, Smile follows Dr.
Rose Cotter , who begins to see things she cannot explain after she witnesses the disturbing suicide of one of her patients. Following its September release, Smile, which also stars Jessie T. Usher, Caitlin Stasey, Kyle Gallner, Kal Penn, and Rob Morgan, has enjoyed enormous success at the global box office bringing in over $200 million against its modest $17 million budget. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, Paramount has confirmed the official streaming release details for Smile. For those who haven't had the chance to catch Smile in theatres, there isn't long to wait as the film will be available on Paramount+ and across digital platforms from tomorrow, November 15, in the U.S. and Canada. Smile will be available on most Paramount+ markets outside the U.S. in 2023, though an exact date was not confirmed.2022 Has Been a Great Year for Horror Movies - And Smile Topped Them All This past year has seen horror emerge as the fan-favorite genre amongst cinema-goers, with horror films having topped the box office several times. While 2022 has been a big year for horror sequels, such as Scream and Halloween Ends, the original concepts have shone through, such as Jordan Peele's Nope and Smile. After far exceeding all expectations and consistently holding its own at the box office, Smile has well and truly established itself among the genre, having become the highest-grossing horror film of 2022, and now its audience is only like to continue to grow as it moves to streaming. The immense success of Smile has sparked much discussion surrounding a potential sequel, and the film's director has already addressed these calls for a follow-up. After the final moments of Smile left the door open for a potential Smile 2, Finn shared how he does not want to retread the same plot, so for him to move forward with Smile 2, it would need to follow a story as equally surprising as its predecessor. Finn's somewhat hesitant approach is certainly understandable, as is his desire to create a worthy sequel. Still, with Smile having pulled in such an impressive box office haul, Paramount will likely be keen to revisit this property while it's still fresh on the audience's minds. Horror fans who have yet to see Smile are undoubtedly likely to be intrigued by the film's success, and now they have the perfect chance to see what all the hype is about. With Smile now set to begin streaming, all eyes are likely to be on its debut, as it will be interesting to see whether it can continue to pull audiences in by the masses a month and a half on from its initial release. While it's more than likely that Smile 2 is already on the table at Paramount, a robust streaming debut could be just the thing to push these discussions to the next level.
