ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Abnormally dry conditions have begun to pop up across the state, despite the recent uptick in rainfall. The most recent drought update for Alaska paints parts of Southcentral , the Interior and southern parts of the Panhandle, with such conditions. A small sliver of the Interior is also seeing moderate drought conditions. This recent uptick in wetter and cooler weather for the state will likely be the trend for the foreseeable future.
There is the possibility clouds could begin to break. Should this occur it’ll likely be after 5 p.m. this evening.A change is underway across Southeast, as the trend of wetter weather finally looks to build into the Panhandle. While showers can be expected for the first half of the day, rain builds into the region tonight into Wednesday.
By tomorrow evening, many areas across Southeast may be approaching 0.75 to 1.50″ of rain. Temperatures this week will likely stay in the 50s and 60s for much of Southeast. The only exception will be far southern areas of the Panhandle, where highs today will warm near 70.Relief from wildfire activity continues through the Interior, as cooler and cloudier weather will stick around.
