That same play was used in the first quarter with Gabe Lim gaining 33 yards to set up a 15-yard touchdown pass from Sinatra to Austin Price. This game was a classic run vs. pass matchup as Piedmont Hills lived and died putting the ball in the air. Junior quarterback Zachary Pallach completed 24 of 48 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns. He threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Ortiz and a 9-yarder to Justin Lee in the final three minutes of the second quarter as the Pirates pulled to within 14-13 at halftime.
Silver Creek took the second-half kickoff and went on an 11-play drive, all on the ground, to set up a 37-yard field goal by Sinatra to make the score 17-13. Piedmont Hills had its first lead of the game, but it didn’t last long as Silver Creek needed only three plays to go 63 yards with the final 34 coming on the option pitch.
