The Kardinals needed overtime to claim their second North 1, Group 4 sectional title in three years.
Before the North 1, Group 4 final on Saturday, Kearny coach Bill Galka and Clifton coach Stan Lembryk traded gifts as the friends of nearly 40 years dating back to their high school days, often do.
Lembryk got Galka kielbasa and Polish chocolate, paying homage to the Polish roots both share and a testament to soccer’s power as a unifying force. Benji Silva ends it 1:06 into OT to win it for the Kardinals and give them yet another section title.
