SIGNAL No. 1 has been raised over at least three provinces in Northern Luzon as Tropical Storm 'Goring' slightly intensifies while moving slowly, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday.
Affected are Batanes, the eastern portion of Babuyan Islands , the eastern portion of mainland Cagayan , and the northeastern portion of Isabela in Luzon.Pagasa said the center of the eye of Goring was estimated 220 kilometers east-southeast of Basco, Batanes while packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90kph.
tropical cyclone bulletin said.'Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards,' it added.The state-run weather agency said the southwest monsoon locally known as 'habagat' will be enhanced by Goring and bring occasional rains over the western portions of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon beginning Saturday and over the western portion of Visayas beginning on Sunday.
