We definitely need more doctors to study the disease. Sickle Cell Awareness Month is a great way to gather in the community and to get out there, to go into the hospitals and speak to the people who treat sickle cell so once someone comes in the emergency room or makes an appointment with them for treatment, they have an idea of what this disease is really about.I’m 53 and we are living longer. We have people who have sickle cell disease that are in their 70s and 80s.
