Shrewsbury Town stepped up their preparations for the League One campaign with a 2-0 home defeat to rivals Birmingham City.
Blues had taken the lead midway through the first half when Jordan James fired home from inside the area.
Alfie May, who has recently arrived from Charlton, had a free-kick that went inches wide of the Salop goal too. Blues could have doubled their lead when Koji Myoshi missed a straightforward chance almost immediately after the resumption. The game petered out from there. Blues made nine changes just after the hour mark before Salop responded with four of their own not 10 minutes later.
