Designer Sharon Wauchob's latest collection showcases a refined understanding of patternmaking and a commitment to timeless design. This season's work emphasizes the interplay of fabric and form, moving away from fleeting trends in favor of enduring style and versatility. Wauchob's approach, developed over the past decade, prioritizes quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design over constant reinvention.

The most compelling work this season revolves around expert patternmaking, a foundational art. It's about understanding how fabric interacts with the body, rather than relying on surface decoration or prominent logos. This approach demands a deep understanding of materials and their characteristics. Sharon Wauchob exemplifies this skill, wielding her shears with precision. Her expertise in bias cut s is exceptional, complemented by a talent for creating relaxed yet tailored garments.

The oblique lines and the spiral cuts of this season reflect the designer's new, unique path in fashion.\Wauchob's journey has been marked by a significant shift. Nearly a decade ago, she moved from Paris to London, stepping away from the traditional runway format to embark on a period of re-evaluation. Drawing upon her rich past experiences, she now collaborates closely with specialized ateliers, primarily local ones, to co-create not just clothing, but an entirely new perspective on fashion. Instead of being swept up in the constant pressure to reinvent herself, Wauchob prioritizes the evolution of her key pieces while carefully introducing new designs. Time has become her ally. Best-selling items, she notes, often don't achieve immediate success. She believes that in a different environment, those pieces might not have had a chance to flourish. This slower, more deliberate approach allows her to witness the pieces reaching their full potential. This isn't merely repeating the same formula. She consistently revisits the core purpose of each garment, always questioning its raison d'être.\Wauchob's goal is to approach function with an almost artistic creativity. An example is a travel-ready coat, lightweight as the wind, crafted from wafer-thin wool and lined with silk chiffon. This innovative design allows for an interplay of layers and a sense of intimacy expressed outwardly. She also aims to create versatile pieces, such as a marabou tunic (adorned with hand-placed feathers) that can also be worn as a skirt, and hybrid accessory-garments (accessaments?). She believes that understanding the product's construction and origins unlocks its versatility. In past seasons, she introduced an oversized scrunchie that could function as a peplum or be styled in various ways. For the fall collection, bandanas designed for layering were presented, as well as scarves integrated into button-down shirts and sweaters. A spangled necktie doubled as a necklace. The opening look featured a satin-front, wool-back coat with an integrated double-sided, flowing scarf. Carrot-leg pants were cleverly constructed using folds to eliminate side seams. Another standout piece, an inky lacquered black topper embellished with hand-applied strass, evoked the imagery of a coromandel screen. Wauchob doesn't build walls with her designs; instead, she sculpts airy, ethereal garments that blur the boundaries between masculine and feminine, between the private boudoir and the public boulevards
