Tropical Storm “Julian” (international name: Krathon) has intensified into a severe tropical storm and is expected to potentially reach super typhoon category. The storm is currently moving west-northwest and is forecast to approach the Batanes-Babuyan Islands area before accelerating north towards Taiwan. PAGASA has issued Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals for various areas in preparation for potential landfall or close approach.
Tropical Storm “ Julian ” is now categorized as a severe tropical storm with a high chance of rapid intensification, the state weather bureau said, not ruling out the possibility of reaching super typhoon category.
“Julian” will potentially make landfall or closely approach Batanes and Babuyan Islands, PAGASA noted.
