Excessive heat warnings and heat advisories have been issued with the humidity making it feel like more than 100 degrees Thursday and Friday.
along with the statewide threat of severe thunderstorms that could include drenching rain and wind gusts up to 70 mph.says strong storms could develop anytime between 2 and 10 p.m. with possible flash flooding and a lesser threat of hail.
As is often the case with summer storms, forecasters can’t be certain exactly where or when they will develop. Nealry the entire state is under a “slight risk” of severe weather, the second level on the five-tier scale. The storms are expected to be gone by late Thursday. Most other New Jerseycounties will be under a heat advisory on Thursday and a more severe excessive heat warning on Friday.
The heat index in New Jersey on Friday is expected to climb as high as 108, according to the National Weather Service.A heat advisory could also be issued Saturday as temps will again top out in the 90s, forecasters say.AccuWeather.comAnother round of severe thunderstorms could hit New Jersey Saturday afternoon and evening as high temperatures continue into the weekend.The high in Trenton was 87 on Wednesday and is expected to reach 97 on Thursday and 99 on Friday.
