Thousands without power as storm hits Central Indiana

: Damaging winds, large hail, and, yes, tornadoes will all be possible in Central Indiana over the next day or so, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

A strong storm system will bring showers and thunderstorms to Central Indiana, potentially in multiple rounds, from late Tuesday evening through Wednesday. The best chance of severe weather impacting Central Indiana will come Wednesday late in the morning into the afternoon. There is a small chance the severe weather could impact Central Indiana overnight Tuesday. An enhanced risk of severe weather for all of Central Indiana is in place all day Wednesday and aSouthwest winds will blow between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts around 45 mph, according to the advisory. The winds could blow around unsecured objects outside, down tree limbs and cause power outages.

The potential for severe weather comes as areas of the state are recovering from last week's multipleThe new system that could generate severe storms will move through the Ohio Valley into Indiana overnight Tuesday, said Jason Puma, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service Indianapolis."We can have severe weather anytime but we have the most occurring during the months of April, May and June," he said.
