The threat of severe storms, including tornadoes, is looming over West Alabama from Mississippi, expected to move east throughout the night and into Sunday morning. Residents are urged to prepare for potential tornadoes, straight-line winds, and hail.
We have a threat of severe storms, including tornadoes, today into Sunday morning. The timing runs from roughly 3PM to 8AM. The line of storms will be moving into West Alabama from Mississippi and be heading east throughout the night into Sunday morning. The threats include tornadoes, straight line winds up to 70mph and hail, up to ping pong ball size. The chance for a tornado is the greatest in extreme West Alabama , but cannot be ruled out in the threat area.
Next, make sure you have more than one way to get weather alerts. A NOAA weather radio in addition to your phone (with your emergency alerts turned on) make for a good combination. Do not depend on sirens to keep you protected. Know where to go inside your home if severe weather is imminent. If you live in a mobile home, you need to find sturdy shelter somewhere else. Plan now for what you will do. Action 8 News will bring you live coverage on-air, online and on your phone. We will be staffed around the clock until the severe weather threat passes
