Former Seton Hall forward Mike Nzei already has secured a job in finance less than a month after playing his final collegiate basketball game

Two weeks after playing in his final college game, Mike Nzei agreed to terms as a professional. The former Seton Hall University basketball standout has accepted a position with the Goldman Sachs investment bank and financial services company in New York City to be part of its sales and trading analyst program.

“Right now, I see my career being in finance,” said Nzei, a solid player who is eschewing potential tryouts to play basketball overseas. “I just want to focus on that.” “I was educating him,” Grier said, “on what I do for a living and what would happen in the interview. He came ready to play, ready to go. … He was incredibly grateful to me for offering to help.”

In his first four years as a student at Seton Hall, Nzei posted a 3.56 GPA and earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics. He also was named three times to the All-Academic Big East team before winning Big East scholar-athlete. “Coming into the season,” he added, “I said to myself I’m going to make the best of my last year and make an impact.”

From a psychological standpoint, the treatment from head coach Kevin Willard and the coaching staff helped Nzei this past season, because they understood how important his internship was and were willing to work around it.
