Riva Schuster Hirsch, 89, is one of the few living Holocaust survivors in Alabama. She was at a dedication for the Alabama Holocaust Education Center’s new facility, attended by GovernorKayIvey, SenKatieBritt and Birmingham Mayor randallwoodfin.

Kay Ivey, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt and other dignitaries.
Hirsch is among 172 Alabama Holocaust survivors whose stories are told in the center, which occupies a wing inside Temple Emanu-El, 2100 Highland Ave. The renovation of the 8,320 square foot facility provides a home designed for AHEC’s programs and museum exhibits. Online visitor reservations will be available during the summer.
